Job Title: Material HandlerJob DescriptionThis steel facility supplies vendors with steel beams, rebar, stairways, glass doors, windows, etc., to general contractors for building installation. The Material Handler is responsible for maintaining inventory, locating material for production orders, and preparing finished stock for shipment. Key responsibilities include maintaining inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording the location of inventory, locating materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders, preparing finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing the product, and documenting product shipment by recording units shipped. Additionally, the Material Handler will learn to operate an overhead crane indoors, accurately read a tape measure, and prepare rebar and steel for various departments. The role also involves maintaining material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs, maintaining in-process inventory, and contributing to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed. The Material Handler participates in ordering or purchasing standard stock items by recommending additions or deletions to standard stock items or ordering replenishments within established procedures and limits. Shift - 3rd Shift - Monday – Thursday 6pm – 6am (Could train on 1st shift if needed). This person will report to supervisors at the Steel Plant. The facility has one large building and around 10 people on the 3rd shift. Required dress includes steel-toed boots, jeans, and work-appropriate t-shirts or long sleeves (avoid super baggy clothes).
