DescriptionSabert is looking for a Material Handler Specialist to join our team!Job Summary: The material handler is responsible, according to process and procedure, for handling and monitoring quality of material that will be converted into finished product, packaging materials and related scrap that results from converting and other associated processes. Supply departments with Virgin, Regrind & Additive; perform job effectively and efficiently; meet production volume expectations posted daily; perform all aspects of job safely; exhibit team work; be accountable for monitoring and correcting quality issues as they occur; learn the job requirements based on company expectations; follow company policies and procedures. The material handler uses a manual pallet jack to move and position empty/full pallets of product. The material handler uses RF scanner, creates, and attaches load tags, and may hand wrap loads/stretch wrap. Material handlers may use the lift assist device to stack boxes onto pallets and operate a forklift (Training available). Some responsibilities include:Safety
  • Work according to all Safety, GMP and BRC Policies
  • Shut down machines by using Emergency stop buttons / cables in emergency situations
  • Shut down electrical devices and / or main power supply properly
  • Shut down air supply properly
  • Lockout / Tagout machines when required for cleaning, changeover or maintenance work
  • Use all required PPE continuously while on the production floor including burn sleeves, hot gloves, canvas coat and face shields when required
  • Identify all nip / pinch points on the line and use proper safe operating techniques for these areas
  • Yearly re-certification in the Lockout / Tagout program
Quality
  • Identify non-conforming material and follow procedures for reporting it
  • Visually observe material for contamination or other defects
  • Ensure the material is properly labeled and the comments are recorded.
  • Ensure consumption in the system to affect inventories properly.
  • Pull regrind samples to assist with onsite testing by the Quality Department.
Raw Material Flow
  • Monitor Silo levels by using the silo station board and visually checking if needed
  • Troubleshoot material flow problems & correct as needed when indicated by Team Leader
  • Blend virgin material when needed
  • Install piping for material flow as needed.
  • Receive Bulk Resin Trucks and Railcars
  • Verify that material is correct and hook and authorize the unloading of material to the correct silos.
  • Verify Materials coming in rail cars are correct connect and unload to proper silos
  • Pull samples and deliver them to the designated storage spot for review by the proper QA official
  • Maintain filters on silos and railcar unloading equipment.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to learn SAP for production reporting
  • Applicants must have a good attendance record
  • Consistent and timely in the performance of tasks
  • Must be flexible in daily job assignments
  • Must be able to perform accurate work
  • Must follow all GMP & Food Safety procedures.
  • Frequent handling of 1500 lbs +/- of Material in Gaylord's
  • Standing on feet up to 12 hours a day
  • Use of hands to write for labeling, counting, and reporting
  • Withstand extreme heat temperatures occasionally
  • Good leadership and team skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Analytical / problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work in extreme height.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Schedule:
  • M-F 8 hours shift
  • OT as needed
