A Pension Program, Life Insurance, AD&D and opportunities for growth and developmen We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our materials department at our equipment manufacturing company. The Materials Department Assistant will be responsible for assisting with inventory management, fulfilling work orders, tracking back-ordered materials, and supporting purchasing, shipping and receiving operations. The ideal candidate should be physically capable of moving materials by hand and operating a forklift in a safe and efficient manner. Position Requirements Responsibilities:
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining inventory of materials, parts, and components in the materials department.
  • Pull materials and parts from inventory as needed for work orders and production processes.
  • Monitor and track back-ordered materials, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely delivery.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving operations, including packaging, labeling, and documentation.
  • Operate a forklift to move materials, parts, and components within the facility safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to inventory, work orders, and shipping/receiving activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments and team members to ensure smooth materials flow and support production schedules.
  • Participate in inventory cycle counts and assist with resolving any discrepancies.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in a materials department or similar role in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage inventory and track materials.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and move materials as needed.
  • Basic computer skills to track inventory and use relevant software.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with other departments and team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes and documentation is a plus.
