Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we're working hard to safely provide our customers with the reliable, affordable, clean energy they depend on.What does a Materials Handler I do for us?The Materials Handler I, with limited supervision, receives, stores, retrieves, and issues electrical utility materials, tools, supplies, and equipment; uses a computerized Enterprise Resource Planning system to accurately record all materials movement transactions; develops and maintains indoor and outdoor storage areas; maintains organization, cleanliness and 5S Standards within facility and daily workspace; and ensures a safe working environment through regular safety inspections and cleaning and maintenance of all storage and work areas and equipment.This individual will work in a team-oriented environment with high focus on customer satisfaction. Work is performed in both a warehouse and yard environment, which involves working with chemicals, equipment, hand and power tools, and material that requires special handling, storage, and packaging due to exposure to potential environmental and safety hazards.In addition to the meaningful work we do, we offer work-life balance, competitive pay and benefits, an employee incentive plan, and both a 401k employer-match and a pension plan, making Idaho Power one of the best employers in the state.A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVEKnowledge of:Proper and safe handling, loading/unloading, moving, storing, and shipping of materialsSafe use of hand tools and equipmentPreferred:ERP system experienceGeneral warehousing including 5S Lean standardsSkills in:Basic PC operations, including use of Word, Excel, and OutlookEffective oral and written communicationBasic math, problem solving and researchingAbility to:Maintain neat, accurate, and legible recordsFollow oral and written instructionsInteract effectively with public, team members, and members of other work teamsPerform moderately heavy manual labor while focusing on safetyMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation:High school diploma or GEDExperience:1 year of materials handling including forklift experience, or utility material & equipment knowledge and experienceORAn equivalent combination of appropriate training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesPreferred:3 years of warehouse materials handling experience within the last 5 years including forklift utilization and inventory management/ERP system experienceLicenses & Certifications:Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the positionMust obtain First Aid/CPR card and complete IPC DOT 49 CFR HazMat Training within 90 days and Idaho Power forklift certifications required for assigned work location within 30 daysForklift certification requirements may include Rough Terrain, Counterbalance, Narrow Aisle, and Pallet Jack Rider certificationsA background check may be required for employees handling explosivesPreferred:Has Idaho Power certification to operate forklifts and manlifts, First Aid/CPR card, or 49 CFR HazMat training at time of hirePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, reaching and occasional crawling or lying on ground to handle material and or inspect/operate forklift. The position also sorts and retrieves material to fill orders requiring frequent floor to waist lifting of up to 60 lbs. Items are collected onto a cart that requires up to 150 lbs. of push/pull initiation force. This job also includes material collection and placement in to totes for order fulfillment, transfers, and staging. A step ladder is used for higher placed items. Two-person team lifts are required for material or containers that can weigh up to 200 lbs. Job placement is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical evaluation, the Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate exam.
