Reports to : Plant/Operations ManagerThe Materials Manager will be responsible for oversight and management of the procurement, inventory, and distribution of materials within the organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to ensure optimal material flow, maintain inventory accuracy, and support production goals.Key Responsibilities:Planning/Scheduling:
- Develop and implement material planning strategies to meet production schedules.
- Collaborate with production, product management and sales teams to forecast material needs.
Procurement:
- Source and negotiate with suppliers for materials, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality standards.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
- Develop supplier score cards based on quality and delivery
- Develop approved supplier database for all components and services
Inventory Control:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure availability while minimizing excess stock.
- Implement inventory management systems and processes for accurate tracking and reporting.
- Develop and maintain cycle count process including frequency
Material Handling:
- Oversee the material movements to production to support schedule.
- Develop and maintain receiving process and labeling standards
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to production sites.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise Inventory Purchaser and Materials Handlers.
- Lead and develop a team of materials personnel, providing training and guidance as needed.
- Foster a collaborative work environment focused on continuous improvement.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies related to material handling and storage.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of material processes.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present regular reports on inventory, procurement and scheduling activities, and material costs to senior management.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
RequirementsQualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in materials management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and practices.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven leadership ability and experience managing a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and ERP System preferably NetSuite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CPIS).
- Experience in construction or manufacturing industries.
