Site Materials Manager

SUMMARY
Provide leadership of Supply Chain Management activities to maximize favorable impact results. Supply Chain Management activities include materials planning; scheduling; inventory control; cash flow management; information flow and coordination and asset management. This role is responsible for Procurement, Planning and Logistics. Actively participates in and supports site staff level meetings and initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage all procurement and materials management activities including order placement, supplier reduction/evaluation/certification, supplier follow-up, price negotiation and compliance with government procurement regulations.
- Needs to demonstrate proven skills with the logistics, planning, purchasing and the strategy & analytics side of materials management as you will be the point of escalation requiring tactile actions, leadership and strong problem-solving skills.
- Site leader responsible for goal setting, Annual Improvement Priorities (AIP's) & leading townhall meetings.
- Managing through complex operations challenges including tight tolerances, single source supplier engagement/qualification, long lead times & strict quality standards (APQP, PPAP, FAIR).
- This site is very dynamic, and the team is highly skilled, and the next leader will be tasked with making the team even more cohesive and impactful.
- Additionally, you will be responsible for inventory management, reduction actions & past dues.
- In this role, you will touch SIOP, Data Analytics (Excel), inventory control & reduction, resourcing, work transfers & action planning.
- Matrix responsibilities for Production Planning's manufacturing resource-planning activities. These activities need to help achieve division sales and ACIP objectives and maintain 100% on-time customer deliveries.
- Matrix responsibilities for team involve MRP database to achieve and maintain a high degree of data accuracy, integrity, and ownership.
- Has 6 direct reports & 24 on entire Supply Chain team more broadly.
- Accountable for division materials metrics and Standards of Performance.
- Help define and implement automated systems to plan and track material flow from customers through procurement to delivery to support a supply chain management strategy.
- Ensure all the division's material management policies are consistent with the inventory control objectives.
- Facilitate corporate purchasing and materials initiatives including common part numbers, supplier managed inventory, consolidated purchasing agreements, supplier reduction and supplier quality certifications.
- Advise on supplier managed inventory or supplier-based contracts with customers.
- Support internal or external audit requirements relative to the planning, procurement, or inventory control functions.
- Prepare and manage department budget within established guidelines.
- Effectively create and sustain procurement to delivery material and system cost reduction programs.
- Provide professional development for all materials team members.
- Effectively explain and support company policies and procedures.
- Benchmark world class supplier management systems and implement best practices in division as appropriate.
- Actively support, lead and implement Kaizen events/activities, lean principles, facilitate Kanban and materials requirement planning techniques across site and/or division.
- Lead high performance team and team activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or materials management required
- Certification in materials management and quality preferred.
- A minimum of 7-10 years applicable leadership in purchasing/materials management in a world-class, high volume manufacturing environment.
- Extensive managerial experience in state-of-the-art materials management systems including supply chain management, cash flow and asset management, JIT, MRPII, cellular manufacturing and with APICS/CPM certification preferred.
- Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft PC software (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and presentations)
- Demonstrate an executive presence in behavior and engagement with leadership team.
- Travel is less than 25% of the time to suppliers or other Parker site locations (CA, NY, FL)
- Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent resident.
