Who we want:
Position Description:
The Materials Planner will manage customer requirements that minimize inventory and maximize equipment capacity; manage production numbers; anticipate, prevent, or rectify problems that could affect the production schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop Master Production Schedule from customer planned orders.
Create and monitor manufacturing schedule throughout the month to ensure on time delivery to customers.
Review customer releases daily and provide information to the appropriate personnel/departments.
Analyze customer needs and requirements and set priorities with the Materials Manager or appropriate personnel/departments.
Communicate daily with the Materials Manager on key issues and concerns.
Participate on teams as assigned by the Materials Manager.
Complete all required reporting and documentation as required to meet deadlines for reporting.
Assist Materials Manager with inventory control.
Responsible for monitoring MRP.
Communicate with the Materials Manager for advice and assistance in resolving issues.
Assist with cycle counting activities as required.
Attend daily meeting with Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Tooling to review each day's production activities.
Update the production schedule as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred; minimum of 3 years of materials planning experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Bills of Lading, Customs documents, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient knowledge of mathematics and an understanding of manufacturing resource planning (MRP).
Proficient in Microsoft software including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Projects.
General clerical skills such as filing and typing.
Ability to master the use of an electronic barcode scanner.
Proficient computer skills, including a working knowledge of Baan, Tag Tracking, and Groupwise (email) software.
Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
Must have an understanding of operating procedures in a manufacturing environment.
