GENERAL PURPOSE

Provide leadership and supervision to employees in the materials planning department in areas of responsibility including administration, shipping, receiving, scheduling employees, sanitation, quality, safety, and environmental. Work with the managers of other departments and serve as a liaison. Oversee the inventories of goods and supplies to ensure adequate amounts are available.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Plan, direct, and coordinate the daily activities of materials planning employees, ensuring that work is performed in an organized, safe, and sanitary work environment that is in compliance with the company's policies and OSHA and government regulations

· Order and receive all incoming raw materials, packaging materials, supplies, and other items as needed

· Maintain adequate inventories of materials and supplies by developing and using a strong working understanding of plant operational requirements and supplier lead times

· Perform activities that determine quantities of and delivery schedules of materials

· Ensure and oversee accurate counting and reporting of receipts and inventories into the proper systems

· Complete company standard PO's for all purchases and approve invoices for payment, verifying information

· Follow up with suppliers to ensure on time deliveries. Provide information to management of any issues

· Manage local supplier relationships to ensure that supplier expectations are understood and performance against those expectations are measured and monitored on regular basis

· Implement best practices as appropriate

· Provide for the management and ordering of PFR (Purchase For Resale) items

· Work with procurement and other resources to track and monitor compliance of all procurement programs

· Coordinate plant level inputs to supplier scorecards as determined by procurement

· Apply Supplier Non-conformance Reporting process (e.g., zero defects)

· Monitor daily inventory and codes of all products to ensure proper rotation and traceability of all items

· Oversee expense management and control, including dump, labor and overhead cost

· Identify plant level supply requirements and provide input to procurement for prioritization and sourcing actions

· Monitor and manage all aspects of employee performance. Provide management of employees directly to ensure effective selection, retention, development, and disciplinary action

· Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues

· Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Undergraduate degree in Business or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)

· 2 to 5 years warehouse, materials planning, or related experience coupled with demonstrated leadership attributes or team leadership experience; supervisor experience preferred

· Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management

· Able to communicate with various levels of personnel to ensure customers' needs and requirements are met

· Able to demonstrate solid business judgment and decision making skills

· Skill in analytical thinking and problem solving

· Able to problem solve, multi-task and prioritize own work activities

· Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)

· Able to to conduct research into issues or situations

· Must be able to read, write and speak English
