Job Description:
We are looking for a Material Scientist with a strong specialization in plastics to join our dynamic R&D team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the development, testing, and optimization of new plastic materials for our revolutionary green building products. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and improve the performance and sustainability of our product offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and development of plastic materials for use in sustainable building applications, focusing on performance, durability, and environmental impact.
- Develop new formulations and enhance existing plastic materials to meet specific technical and performance requirements.
- Design and execute experiments to test mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties of materials.
- Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to ensure successful scale-up from lab to full production.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and new scientific advancements in the field of plastics and sustainability.
- Lead projects related to the improvement of recyclability, biodegradability, and carbon footprint reduction of plastic materials.
- Analyze test data and prepare reports on material performance, providing recommendations for product improvement.
- Ensure all materials meet regulatory and industry standards for safety, performance, and sustainability.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise on material selection, processing, and performance.
Qualifications:
- PhD or Masters degree in Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with a strong focus on plastics.
- 5+ years of experience in material science with a specialization in plastic materials, ideally in the building materials or related industries.
- Deep understanding of polymer chemistry, processing techniques, and material properties.
- Proven experience in developing and testing plastic materials, especially in sustainable or eco-friendly applications.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to design and interpret experiments and data.
- Knowledge of regulations and standards related to plastics, sustainability, and building materials (LEED, ASTM, etc.).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with material characterization tools and software.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with biodegradable, recycled, or bio-based plastics.
- Familiarity with extrusion processes and other relevant manufacturing technologies.
- Strong project management skills and ability to lead R&D initiatives.
