Poindexter & Co is currently seeking a Materials Supervisor for our local manufacturing facility. This position will manage and oversee the receipt, storage, pick, and delivery operations of materials from suppliers to the warehouse, production lines and regional facilities. This role will motivate, manage, and measure the performance of warehouse staff against productivity and quality KPIs while ensuring the safety of all employees.The Nuts and Bolts:Lead team meetings and communicate goals to the floorMonitor and measure performanceProvide proper coaching to motivate workforce and increase retentionImproves methods and processes to increase productivity and quality while reducing costsConduct regular training sessions to ensure all employees are properly trained in their functionsCreate a cross-training matrix to ensure backups are in placeIncrease inventory accuracy through monitoring of daily warehouse activities, cycle counts, receiving procedures and auditsResolve inventory discrepancies quickly and effectivelyPlan labor effectively against weekly requirements to increase worker efficiency and minimize overtimeEnsure on-time loading and unloading of trucks to minimize detentionEscalate issues as neededReview warehouse layout and optimize storage capacityMinimize use of outside storageCommunicates any issues or delays in shipments to impacted areas with corrective action plans and timings for resolutionOptimize picking performance and identify opportunities to reduce forklift travelReview truck loading procedures to increase truck payloadWork with Production Plant to ensure timely delivery of parts and advise Materials teams of product issuesLead warehouse sanitation/5S activitiesOther duties as requiredRequired Credentials: Bachelor's degree in management, supply chain, business or manufacturing discipline, preferred5 years of experience in warehousing and distribution in a manufacturing environmentPrior experience managing people in a fast-paced distribution and/or manufacturing environmentStrong leadership, motivational, and team-building skillsAbility to resolve crisis and make quick decisionsStrong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and familiarity with JD Edwards or other mainframe systemsForklift license a plusYou must be able to: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.This job operates in a manufacturing plant environment.
