Observe and enforce compliance with work rules, safety policy, and UAW contract. Promptly report performance feedback and violations of procedures/policies to Zone Facilities Manager. Assist in training all new maintenance mechanic staff in building systems and operations. Assist Zone Facilities Manager (ZFM) with coordination and assignment of work for the maintenance mechanics. Oversee work to ensure productivity and efficiency expectations are met. Communicate regularly with ZFM about work progress and potential delays. Act as primary first responder for maintenance mechanic emergencies and backup for areas when mechanics are absent. Liaison with Unit Facilities Representatives, vendors, and FM Procurement for maintenance mechanic ordering. The Senior Maintenance Mechanic assigned to work in the Endowed Zone will oversee and perform corrective maintenance, and preventive maintenance. - Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
- High School education or equivalent. At least 7 years of experience in commercial or industrial building trades and/or performing corrective and preventive maintenance on commercial or industrial facilities equipment.
- Strong knowledge of building systems and equipment and an ability to read and interpret blue prints, schematics and drawings. Excellent interpersonal, supervisory/leadspersons, teamwork, troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead others. Ability to work successfully in a team-oriented environment to accomplish goals. Proven ability to independently make sound and immediate on-site decisions within established guidelines. Provide excellent customer service for a diverse and student-oriented campus community. Demonstrated ability to use computers including workflow and assignment of service requests. Ability to lift and/or more up to 75 pounds and the ability to ascend and descend heights with agility and freedom of movement to work in confined and hazardous spaces (crawl spaces, mechanical rooms, shafts, sub-basements, attics, etc.) some of which must be accessed by ladder.
- Must have and maintain a valid US driver's license; may be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites. Available to work overtime as duties require, including weekends and shifts. Must have reliable transportation as may be required to use own vehicle on the job.
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications: - Experience with the MAXIMO Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Knowledge of OSHA and typical institutional requirements for work site safety (lockout/tag out, hazardous materials and wastes, personal protective equipment, etc.).
- Familiarity with iPad functionality.
