5:00 am-2:00 pm (one week) Lunch taken at 11:00
7:00 am-4:00 pm (on Non School Days)
On Call Rotation Monday - Sunday
Alterations are expected to be discussed with supervisor
DUTIES:
* Bumper to Bumper School Bus maintenance and repairs
* Perform 30 day school bus inspections per N.C. School Bus Fleet Manual
* Report Tire List to Supervisor and Tire Changer for replacement/repair with 30 Day Inspections
* Cleans and maintains shop, tools and equipment
* Repair body damage and paint vehicles
* Service truck maintenance/cleanliness
* Mount, balance and change tires
* Perform scheduled PMs (Preventive Maintenance) (PMs NOT TO EXCEED 500 MILES PAST DUE)
* Serve as a backup Fueler as needed
* Participate in wrecker calls and delivery of buses
* Always maintains appropriate paperwork
* Locate and diagnose frequently occurring mechanical problems
* Must obtain and hold minimum of Class B (CDL) with N, P and S endorsements with the ability to acquire a required Class A within a reasonable time frame
* Must obtain and hold 30 Day Inspection Certification per weekly rotation or as needed
* Answer radio calls after hours when scheduled ON CALL
* Utilized for inclement weather concerns by checking road conditions
* Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
* Ability to obtain and hold forklift license and operate safely
* General knowledge of the operation and repair of components, systems and accessories of school buses, district vehicles and equipment
* Working knowledge of the operating principles of internal combustion engines
* Working knowledge of the methods of trouble shooting and repairing automotive electrical systems
* Working knowledge of Diagnostic software
* Working knowledge of medium duty air brake systems
* Working knowledge of automatic transmissions
* Skill in the use of computers and standard office equipment
* Ability to detect by inspection any worn, defective or improperly adjusted parts
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to keep records of repair and service operations
* Ability to learn specialized equipment and software based on district needs
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, associates, students, parents and the general public
Physical Requirements
* This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force
* Must be able to step up and down repeatedly and get in and out of vehicles.
* Must be able to access underneath school buses and other vehicles to change oil, grease, and service, etc.
* Work regularly requires standing, walking using hands to finger, handle or feel, pushing or pulling and repetitive motions or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting and occasionally requires sitting.
* Work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to vibration, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and/or around Hazardous Materials such as: automotive batteries, automatic transmission fluid, anti-freeze, etc.
* Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (nonweather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather).
* Exposure to the risk of electrical shock
* Work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
