* Maintenance mechanics keep the machinery at a business operating effectively. They assemble, inspect, install and test new pieces of equipment to ensure proficiency. Mechanics are expected to perform emergency repairs, which necessitates the ability to troubleshoot promptly. Preventive maintenance needs to be performed frequently.
Basic Job Skills
* Ability to obey all safety rules and identify and correct potential safety problems

* Follow SOP's and/or PM task instruction sets
* Communicate with production prior to starting job and when job is completed
* Ability to clearly communicate this information to team members
* Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of tools and equipment
* Perform routine work as scheduled, or as time permits, and perform preventive maintenance activities as time permits
* Maintain maintenance on assigned machines (Millwrighting skills necessary)
* Repair and maintain equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, maintenance and repair manuals, and manufacturer's specification.
* Mechanic Specific Skills
* Must have demonstrated mechanical knowledge to analyze and solve mechanical problems such as gearboxes, bearings, blowers centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, agitators, centrifuges, rotary valves, and other process equipment
* Must be able to inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges and other measuring instruments
* Must have prior experience installing special functional and structural parts in equipment such as column packing, distillation column trays, spray headers, centrifuge cloths and knives, filter belts, etc.
* Drive PM/PdM program in support of plant reliability program. Use Vibration, Oil analysis, and Ultrasonic surveys as a tool to improve MTBF and reduce repair cost
* Must have demonstrated proficiency in at least five of the following areas:
* Pump seal installation
* Rebuilding/ repairing pumps, agitators and gearboxes
* Dial indicator and laser alignment of rotating equipment
* Troubleshooting of compressors and vacuum pumps
* Troubleshooting of refrigeration equipment
* General Maintenance
* Lubrication and lubrication routes
* Preventive maintenance techniques
* Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to safely perform the following tasks:
* Lifting of up to 50 pounds without mechanical assistance.
* Use of hand tools above shoulders, under ergonomically stressful conditions, and under application of heavy force by employee.
* Work in elevated positions with hand tools and fall restraint equipment.
* Ability to wear personnel protective equipment (PPE)
* Must be able to pass pulmonary test that is required prior to wearing breathing air mask.
* Ability to perform work in confined spaces while on breathing air
* Must be able to interface with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to review work orders, create work orders, input parts and labor used on work orders, look up spare parts and identify storeroom location, and complete work orders (electronically).
* Troubleshoot equipment/systems as required
* Dismantle equipment to gain access to and remove/replace defective parts, using fork truck, hoist, power tools and hand tools
* Must be able to use precision-measuring and testing instruments in performance of mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance
* Identify and implement solutions to recurring equipment problems
* Must have the ability to identify and order repair parts using data from multiple sources, including stores catalog, vendor drawings, and direct contact with manufacturers
* Assist I&E technicians as needed / as asked
* Must be able to identify the need for, and request engineering/vendor assistance as required
* Communicate and work with other groups (process engineers, production technicians, quality control) as necessary to promote efficiency in problem solving and work scheduling
* Required to clean up after jobs are completed / perform housekeeping as required in shops and in plant
