General Summary:

Under general supervision, performs mechanicalandcosmeticrepairsoncustomerandinternalCarMaxvehiclesinaccordancewith allstandards describedin theCarMaxCertifiedQuality Inspection Process andthe RetailRepairProcess.Additionally, performs allcustomercontact functions during repairs asdefined by CarMax“VoiceofCustomer”processes, ordersandmaintains parts and supply inventories and properly usesandmaintainsallCarMaxToolsandEquipmenttosupportthe storeoperations.

  • ExecuteCarMax Standardized work
  • Engine Repair
  • Advance engine performance and drivability
  • Electrical systems repair
  • Manual drivetrain and axlerepair
  • Brakediagnosis and repair
  • Steeringandsuspensionrepairsincluding 4-wheel alignments
  • Heatingand airconditioning repair
  • Inspect vehicles per CarMaxQuality Standardswhen needed.
  • Maintainworkplacecleanliness and organizationinaccordance withCarMax 5Sstandards
  • Maintain,repair,andcleanshopequipment
  • Interactwith allcustomersin a friendly,service oriented manner
  • Consultwithservicecustomers regarding neededrepairs
  • Reviewrepair orders for work performedandaccuracyof all labor,parts and sublet documentationfor billing
  • Close andinvoicerepair orders
  • Explain allrecommendations/repairs/service/maintenance performedtoensure customerunderstanding
  • Collect service payments and managescash including receiving and countingmoney
  • Locate and receive shipments of parts
  • Receive parts into inventory
  • Maintain theparts inventory for neatness, accuracy(cyclecounts),andcorrect stocking levels
  • Control service supplies to minimizewaste

Additional ResponsibilitiesMayInclude:
  • Providegeneral supportto storeoperationstomaintain vehicle inventoryand meet quality standards
  • Support salesby helping to assess vehicle conditionduringthecondition assessment process, preppingsoldvehiclesfordelivery,andreceivingandprocessing vehicles beingtransferred into or out of inventory
  • Set up andcoordinate handlingofvehicleswithonlotand off lot sublet vendorswhen the needed work cannotbeperformedin house

Job Specifications:

Work requires ability to:

  • New Associate Orientation Training–Operations
  • Kronos TrainingforHourlyAssociates
  • Refrigerant Recycling License
  • Where required by State/Local law, maintain ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes(A5),Heating AirConditioning (A7), Electrical (A6),EngineRepair(A1),ManualDriveTrainand Axles(A3), andEngine Performance (A8)
  • Read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accuraterecords
  • Required to perform multiple duties inahigh-energy, fast-pacedenvironment
  • Lift objects that weigh as much as50pounds
  • Speakandlisten tocustomers/associates,both in personandover thephone
  • Demonstrateattention to detail and have manual dexterity in both armsand hands
  • Monitorshop compliance withCarMax, O.S.H.A.,andEPA standards
  • Demonstrateexceptional interpersonal, communication, andcustomerservice skills
  • Demonstrateexceptional telephone etiquette and active listeningskills

WorkingConditions:
  • Combination of both office and outdoorenvironment;mayinclude workingat times innoisyand/orinclementweather conditions.
  • Mayrequirewalking orstandingforan extended periodof time.
  • Flexibleworkhours withshiftsthat mayinclude nights, weekends, andholidays.
  • WearCarMaxclothing(acquired through company) atall times working in the store.
  • Follow allCarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA standards including the useof Personal Protective Equipment, and properwaste disposalinrequiredareas.
  • Adhere to all CarMax policiesincludingAttendance,Asset Protection, Integrity and Uniformpolicies.

The hourly rate for this position is:

$25.30 - $38.00

Benefits:

Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.

Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:

  • To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.
  • For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.

Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
