Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs routine servicing and repairing of diesel trucks or trailers.
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, disassemble vehicles, and examine parts for defects and excessive wear.
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
- c Including but not limited to drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, brake, steering, hydraulics, adjusting and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
- Compile inspection reports detailing their findings.
- Track all parts and materials used in repairs or replacements.
- Work with chassis dealers as needed to order parts to complete chassis repairs in a timely fashion.
- Determine if chassis problems are warranty related or related to problems caused by Ox or other parties during dump body installation process.
- Assist with jump starting and fueling chassis that may have been sitting stagnant for lengthy periods of time.
- Complete maintenance and repairs on Ox Haul owned over-the-road tractors and trailers.
- Inspect the overall condition of Truck and Trailer to ensure that they meet U.S. Department of Transportation's safety requirements.
- Knowledge of chassis systems including diesel engines, transmissions, running gear, axles, air systems, electrical systems, lighting, controls and any other related systems on new or used dump body chassis related to the Ox business.
- Be willing to learn to program engines, transmissions and controls and be willing to stay on top of changes in technology related to chassis.
- Develop relations with OE truck manufacturers and learn what model year changes are going to happen and determine if these changes will affect our installation process.
- If there are changes that will affect our installation process, this position will work with operations and engineering to prepare for upcoming changes.
- Assist in developing standard work in the installation process.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area for customers and co-workers.
- Ensure you are working in a safe and prudent manner.
Education and Experience: Current or previous ASE or OE mechanical certifications required. 7-10 years of certified experience.Required Skills/Abilities: Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills. Works well independently and with others. Good written and verbal communication skills. Organized with attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods standing and walking. Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery. Must be able to visually inspect machines.
