Overview:

The Pictsweet Company is growing! Responsible for the repair, installations, adjustments, and maintenance of industrial production and processing machinery such as hydraulic systems, weigh machines, packaging machines, metal detectors, pneumatic systems, material handling systems, electrical controls and PLCs. Assist with plant maintenance projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, weigh machines, packaging machines, metal detectors, pneumatic systems, material handling systems, electrical controls and PLCs.
  • Actively develop solutions to limit operational downtime.
  • Daily maintenance and repair of assigned packaging line(s) to ensure optimum production and quality standards.
  • Evaluate mechanical performance and assist in planning appropriate adjustments.
  • Actively participate in preventive maintenance program on a daily basis.
  • Communicate frequently with plant supervision regarding production. Anticipate and resolve problems.
  • Ensure a safe work place. Follow Pictsweet Hazardous Communication Plan, Lock-out/Tag-out Program, Process Safety Management Plan, and all applicable safety standards.
  • Work cooperatively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, machine operators and production workers to ensure the optimal performance of packaging machines and other equipment.
  • Assist with ordering and acquisition of necessary equipment, tools, and parts. Process POs and invoices per policies and procedures in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with organizing and cleaning production and maintenance areas throughout shift.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures, which include SOPs, Employee Handbook, Food Safety and Quality Procedures, Food Quality Policies, GMP Handbook, HACCP, and Pictsweet Safety Procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Capability of running assigned repack line(s) and/or performing general mechanical duties.
  • Ability to maintain and repair all mechanical operations of baggers, conveyor belts, case packers, case erectors, tape machines and case printers.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, weigh machines, metal detectors, Bosch baggers, and material handling systems.
  • Basic understanding of electrical controls.
  • Knowledge of food packaging equipment, principles, quality control, HACCP and GMPs.
  • Read or interpret documents such as safety rules/ signs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
  • Computer literacy and basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controls.
  • Proven efficiency in diagnosis, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and written in English, with management and co-workers.
  • Foster cooperative team environment and work well with all employees.
  • Consistently meet goals, efficiency standards and waste reduction standards.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or GED. Prefer two years of experience as a production line mechanic (or related craft) preferably in a high-speed production environment. Prefer post high school training, such as a technical school diploma, craft apprenticeship, or other specialized training. Understand basic mathematical computation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Regularly stand, climb, walk, squat, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Work effectively in cold, wet and loud environment for up to 10 hours.
  • Climb and descend steep stairs.
  • Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent repetitive motion involving wrists, hands, fingers, and shoulders.
  • Consistent repetitive motion involving wrists, hands, fingers, and shoulders.
