QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must comply with all employment criteria legally established by the Opelika City School Board of Education.
* Requires a current Alabama School Bus Driver Examination
* Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to communicate well with others.
* Demonstrates aptitude for successful completion of the assigned task.
* High school diploma or GED required.
* Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with P and S endorsements required and be insurable for vehicle operation. (within 6 months of employment)
* Certification by the State of Alabama Department of Transportation required. (within 6 months of employment)
* Mechanic Certification required by the Alabama State Department of Education. (within 6 months of employment)
* Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
* Tuberculosis clearance as required by Opelika City Schools.
* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST AND BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED (HB 402 ACT 99-361 Alabama Legislature)
REPORTS TO: Bus Shop Supervisor, Transportation Director and the Superintendent.
JOB GOAL: To maintain all district vehicles in a state of operation that prohibits interruptions to the educational program and to serve as substitute for bus drivers when needed.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Responsible for the maintenance, repair and inspect of all vehicles.
* Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
* Keep an accurate log of all inspections/repairs and prepare reports as needed.
* Serve as route driver in emergencies.
* Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.
* Perform any other pertinent assignment assigned by the Bus Shop Supervisor, Transportation Director and/or the Superintendent to assist in the efficiency and effectiveness of the Bus Shop.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Support Personnel.

Salary Range: From/To $32,780.00 - $40,283.00 Salary for the remaining 2023-2024 school year will be prorated
