Mechanical Assembler ahhEssential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may expand to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. 1. Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials. 2. Accountable to monitor labor expended on each job and reports root causes and labor variances for positive and negative deviations. 3. Assemble large and complicated equipment, comprised of numerous sub-assemblies. 4. Interface with engineers and management personnel during the assembly process. 5. Plan assembly procedures. 6. Train lower classification assemblers on assembly, fit and welding procedures. 7. Achieve product quality level to company standards. 8. Manage multiple projects simultaneously. 9. Mount mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic auxiliaries and controls. 10. Construct a wide variety of structural steel and sheet metal products of complex design and form such as ducts, transitions, elbows, tanks, machine guards and pipe. 11. Layout sheets to secure desired form and fit with the most economical use of material. 12. Setup and operates all types of sheet metal working equipment. 13. Tacks, welds and cuts all types of steel. 14. Rigs, high lifts and positions equipment and sub-assemblies using overhead cranes and forklift trucks 15. Mark up prints -redline - and return to the Supervisor. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Technical Certification in related field preferred. •Related work experience in a Manufacturing environment, usually acquired through 5 years of exposure to mechanical and assembly. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities •Ability to travel to subcontractor and/or customer sites when required. •Ability to work overtime when required. •Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals. •Assembly skills must include proficiency in and the ability to perform, in any position, the following metal assembly procedures: 1) MIG welding (stainless and carbon steel), 2) TIG welding, 3) Stick welding, 4) Plasma cutting, and 5) Torch/flame cutting.•Mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. •Ability to record and log information accurately. •Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential. •Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a very fast paced, sometimes stressful environment and possess strong decision-making skills. •Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in verbal, written, or diagram form.
