Mechanical Engineer – Space Systems

Location: Albuquerque, NM (On-site)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural and thermal analysis of mechanical systems for space and airborne hardware, using both analytical calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Engage in the design process with CAD tools (experience with SolidWorks preferred), creating models that meet stringent tolerance and GD&T standards.
  • Lead and support integration, testing, and validation activities, ensuring designs meet rigorous space hardware requirements.
  • Produce detailed technical documentation, including analysis reports, specifications, and requirements documents.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and participate in design reviews and supplier discussions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Proven mechanical engineering experience in one or more of the following:
  • Structural and thermal analysis, including stress, modal, and thermal conduction analysis.
  • CAD design with a preference for SolidWorks experience.
  • Tolerance analysis and GD&T practices.
  • Experience with space hardware design, integration, and testing.
  • Strong technical writing skills for engineering documentation.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2-8 years in mechanical engineering, particularly in space systems.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for customer interactions and supplier engagement.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware assembly, integration, and testing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively, adapting to varied tasks and priorities.
  • Active or current U.S. security clearance is a plus.
