Job Location : El Segundo,CA, USA
A skilled mechanical engineer with a strong flight system design and manufacturing background. You will design (for manufacture), prototype, and test complex electro-mechanical hardware for aerospace rocket/missile systems. You will own system components from conception through to flight testing and manufacture and be responsible for performance by executing analysis and environmental testing. This is a hands-on, full time+ role on a fast paced and exceptionally committed early stage team.
Key responsibilities:
• Own the full development cycle for complex defense sub-components and execute on integration into the larger system-extensive work in 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
• Prioritize design for manufacturing and planning to ensure a smooth transition into
large volume production-develop detailed drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing
specifications for fabrication incorporating hands-on learning from technicians
• Work across hardware and electrical disciplines and take on tasks across departments to execute on program timelines
• Test systems in the field across the country and internationally
• Perform structural, thermal, and dynamic analyses to ensure robust and optimized designs (e.g., FEA, CFD)
Qualifications:
• 2+ (entry), 5+ (senior) years of ownership experience in aerospace mechanical engineering
• High proficiency in Solidworks
• 5+ (entry) 10+ (senior) years of hands-on experience fabricating and testing complex mechanical systems
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in
a cross-functional team environment.
BS in aerospace/mechanical engineering
Preferred Skills:
Proficiency in embedded C/C++ or equivalent embedded systems language
Proficiency in PCB design, harnessing, and general electrical
Leadership experience with project teams (rocket team, formula SAE)
2+ years experience with startups
