The Mechanical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems on various projects. The role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and comprehensive bids.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team.

Description

  • Review project specifications, blueprints, and other documents to develop accurate mechanical estimates.
  • Analyze project scope and requirements to determine labor, material, and equipment costs.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for mechanical systems.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposals for clients.
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers during the pre-construction phase.
  • Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing information.
  • Monitor industry trends, labor rates, and material pricing to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Participate in post-bid reviews to refine estimating processes.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, with a focus on [HVAC, plumbing, or piping] projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., FastPIPE, FastDUCT, QuoteSoft) and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and industry standards in Syracuse, NY, and surrounding areas.
