Job Description :
- JOB SUMMARY
- Performs allergy and medication histories for patient admissions, recordkeeping, and inventory control under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education and/or experience: Successful completion of an accredited pharmacy technician or practical nursing training program preferred. Certification by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required for technicians. Two years pharmacy or nursing experience required. Requires Tennessee registration as pharmacy technician or licensure as practical nurse.
- Knowledge: Should have excellent knowledge of drug names and medical abbreviations.
- Skills: Good computer and customer service skills. Proficient performance of the following functions:
- Obtaining and documenting the medication history of patients admitted to the emergency department and/or hospital.
- Obtaining and reconciling allergy history of patients admitted to the emergency department and/or hospital.
- Managing Emergency Department stock systems, including automated devices.
- Accurate and efficient data entry into clinical information systems.
- Effectively utilize drug information resources.
- Abilities: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to utilize hospital clinical information systems.
