The position begins 5 days before school begins and continues 5 days after school is out of session. SALARY:YearHourly Rate1$11.252$11.943$12.644$13.345$14.06Annual, incremental pay increases are given for each year of service with the EVSC in this role with 120 days of service per school year. New employees will begin on year 1. BENEFITS:EVSC offers four (4) Anthem medical insurance plans. Single medical, dental and vision insurance are provided with this position. If elected, insurance coverage begins the first of the month following the successful completion of a 30-day probationary period. EVSC employees access to the EVSC Wee Care Learning Centers. The Wee Care program provides a quality early learning experience for employees' children as young as six weeks through age five at a special employee rate. This position will automatically be enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement Fund (PERF) through the state of Indiana, which includes a defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA). Employees may also participate in a 403(b) Plan. Enrolling in the 403(b) plan allows employees to save for their retirement by making a pre-tax salary deferral contributions to the Plan.Eligible employees may enroll in the EVSC group life insurance and long term disability plans. EVSC also offers a variety of voluntary insurance products through American Fidelity. EVSC offers a free Employee Assistance Program (EAP). It is a confidential, voluntary service that provides professional counseling and referral services designed to help employees and their family members with personal, job or family-related matters.SUMMARY: Coordinate the daily activities of the school media center.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Other duties may be assigned.
  • Maintain a daily schedule of visiting library classes, which may include teaching media skills or reading aloud to students.
  • Check books and materials in and out for students and teachers.
  • Maintain an inviting atmosphere by creating educational displays that encourage students to read in the media center.
  • Assist teachers by collecting media resources for classroom lessons.
  • Throughout the year, collect and distribute textbooks as needed for departing and arriving students and order as necessary.
  • Maintain textbook inventory, and ordering or transferring textbooks as needed.
  • Maintain shelves by keeping books in order according to media center standards, including daily shelving and arranging.
  • Order grade level appropriate books for the media center based on curriculum maps and teacher and student needs, while reviewing the collection and analyzing school needs.
  • Distribute and check out all textbooks, tech, teacher resources to students and teachers at the beginning of the year as well as collect materials at the end of the year and place back in inventory.
  • Assist with yearly inventory of media center resources.
  • Process all media resources ordered through the media budget, Scholastic book fairs and other funds.
  • Collect fees for damaged and lost media materials, textbooks or technology.
  • Mend damaged materials daily to keep materials in circulation.
  • Assist in weeding out-of-date and damaged material.
  • Produce and distribute overdue notices quarterly.
  • Carry out end of the year procedures by creating reports on missing media and technology resources as well as sending out notices as necessary.
  • Coordinate and manage book fairs one to three times per school year.
  • Meet quarterly with a media focus group for professional development.
  • Print textbook reports and maintain collection letters.
  • Serve one hour of lunch and or recess duties daily.
  • Maintains regular attendance.
