- Position: Medical and Clinical Laboratory Technologist
- Location: Fairfield, TX
- Position Type: Regular, Non- Exempt
Essential Functions
- Test Samples: You will perform tests on body fluids (like blood or urine) to check for diseases or abnormal conditions.
- Operate Equipment: You will use, calibrate, and maintain laboratory machines.
- Analyze Results: You will review lab results to make sure they are accurate.
- Help with Diagnosis: Provide information from test results to doctors or patients.
- Microbiology: Identify and test microbes like bacteria or viruses.
- Supervise Staff: You might supervise or train other laboratory staff.
- Quality Control: Make sure tests are done correctly and safely.
- Customer Service: Answer phone calls and assist customers.
- Clinical Work: Perform tests and procedures to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent).
- Experience: 2 years preferred, especially in various laboratory specialties.
- Certifications: Must have certifications from organizations like AMT, ASCP, or similar.
- Physical Requirements: You will be on your feet most of the day, and sometimes may need to lift light items (up to 25 lbs).
- Safety: Be aware of health and safety risks in a laboratory (e.g., exposure to infectious samples).
Work Environment:
- You will be in a lab setting, exposed to potentially infectious materials and chemicals.
- The work can be fast-paced and unpredictable, with occasional long hours.
