Position Description:The Medical Assistant - Pediatrics Back Office for JWCH is a full-time position under the direct supervision of the Clinic Administrator or Clinic Designee. Within the regulatory scope of practice, the Medical Assistant will assist in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine pediatric care procedures and technical supportive functions. We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant with a passion for working with children and their families. Escort pediatric patients and their guardians to examination rooms, ensuring a welcoming and child-friendly environment.Obtain and record vital signs, patient history, and chief complaints with precision and sensitivity to children's needs.Provide age-appropriate instructions for medications, treatments, and post-procedure care, ensuring understanding by both the child and their guardian.Perform routine (noninvasive) pediatric care functions as prescribed by licensed healthcare personnel, adhering to clinic policies and the defined scope of practice.Collect and record patient data, including height, weight, BMI, temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure, tailored for pediatric protocols.Administer pediatric immunizations and medications per provider's order, following verification of medication and dosage by a licensed healthcare professional.Perform venipuncture, finger sticks, and PPD skin tests as required, ensuring comfort and safety for young patients.Apply/remove bandages and dressings with a gentle approach for pediatric patients.Follow aseptic technique and infection control principles to maintain a safe environment for children.Provide basic health education to families using established pediatric policies and procedures.Assist families in setting self-management goals for pediatric care under the direction of a licensed healthcare provider.Perform routine clerical functions such as scheduling appointments, taking phone calls, and filing pediatric patient documents accurately.Maintain clean, well-stocked pediatric exam rooms and work areas to ensure a child-friendly environment.Participate in quality improvement initiatives, case conferences, and in-service training related to pediatric care.Adhere to all confidentiality and safety policies and participate in assigned safety programs, including emergency response teams.Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements:
