Job Description :
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent patient care
  • Escort patients to exam rooms
  • Obtain and record vitals and patient history
  • Present patient history summary to the provider and alert provider of any related changes in patient medical standing
  • Assist provider with charting and documentation in company's EMR to include posting charges, billing and diagnosis codes, etc.
  • Assist in writing prescriptions and clinical orders (i.e. physical therapy, MRI, and CT)
  • Access outside EMR and imaging systems for records and imaging when necessary
  • Ensure proper documentation in chart/EMR the day of visit (.i.e. current MRI report and image, labs, EMG/NCV, post-surgery report, etc.)
  • Assist with splinting/casting, cast removal, suture and staple removal, fitting and dispensing durable medical equipment
  • Assist with sterile procedures (i.e. injections, radiofrequency, and spinal cord stimulator trials)
  • Counsel patients in the office concerning physician's orders, medication, and/or clinical questions
  • Stock and clean exam rooms
  • Perform work related duties such as scanning documents into the EMR and other items as required and other tasks as assigned
  • Maintain strictest confidentially in accordance with HIPPA compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of ICD-10 diagnostic coding and CPT procedure codes
  • Maintain knowledge of operation and maintenance of clinical equipment, medications, and supplies
RequirementsRequirements:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certificate/Licensure: Active Medical Assistant Certification (preferred)
Skills:
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Understanding of anatomy and physiology
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Knowledge of medical diagnosis preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Must be a team player
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in busy and/or stressful situations
Physical requirements:
  • Requires frequent and often repetitive bending, reaching, lifting, walking, squatting, pushing and sitting
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance
