We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support our medical staff in providing high-quality patient care and ensure smooth operations within our practice.GENERAL DESCRIPTION Assume responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse or physician in patient care area. Provides services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the MA as defined by certification agency and/or applicable state laws and rules. Work collaboratively with the corporate leadership, medical and clinic administrative staff, and billing personnel, to develop and implement well-balanced clinical programs designed to ensure the operational and strategic success of the clinic. Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine diagnostic tests, medical treatments and procedures such as taking and recording temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure; changing sterile dressings, giving irrigations and enemas; preparing patient and collecting specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Administering medication as directed by the physician.
- Draw blood samples and obtain urine specimens.
- Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids the physician/nurse practitioner during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatment to physicians/nurse practitioners.
- Maintains timely flow of patients.
- Greets patients and prepares them for physician/nurse practitioner examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
- Arranges for patients testing and information.
- Formulates and updates patient care plans. Orders, prepares, and inspects patients' charts. Posts tests and examination results.
- Responsible for preparation of exam rooms including re-stocking of treatment areas.
- Participates in CLIA and OSHA compliance and monitoring.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
- Monitors emergency kit and oxygen tanks as required.
- Monitors and maintains supplies and medication closet.
- Completes referrals and other paperwork in a timely manner.
- Maintains tracking of UDS required information.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the MCM to create a smoothly run efficient clinic.
Qualifications Education: High School Graduate or GED Diploma Experience: Work requires a minimum of 2 year's experience in responsible clinical/medical operations Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification: Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program, preferred. Certification from The American Association of Medical Assistants or other certifying bodies preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Communication and telephone proficient, Computer literate, Experience with a verity of business machines. Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced medical Center environment. Excellent communication skills and proper phone etiquette required. Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 75 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
