Accompany patients to the exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exams, etc. Collect patient information/history; take vitals, perform screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients/families.\nSend/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.\nPrepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Clean according to the scheduled maintenance program and keep appropriate records. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.\nComply with the requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.\nPerform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Assist physicians with procedures. Document patient information in the medical record.\nAnswering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.\nObtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics. Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately. Explore this opportunity to see how you can use your skills to make a difference!\n Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title & salary based on their experience and education.\n Medical Assistant: \n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.\n Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities. \nPatient care experience is preferred. \nPrevious experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.\n\n Medical Assistant, Senior: \n\n High school diploma or equivalent is required.\nSuccessful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT)\n\nOR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA)\nOR at least 1 year of patient care experience required.\n\n\nMust be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category specific tasks.\nMust have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.\n\n Medical Assistant, Expert:\n\n High school diploma or equivalent is required.\nSuccessful completion of Medical Assistant program, or equivalent hospital program\n\nOR Successful completion and maintenance of certification examination and 1 year of patient care experience,\nOR Two years of direct patient care experience required.\n\n\nMust have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.\nPerformance evaluation at Solid/Strong/Good rating or higher.\n\n Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:\n\nCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.\nBasic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)\nAct 34\n\n \n UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
