Job Summary: Responsible to greet patients, activate patient files, and move patients through a pre- determined protocol at clinic.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include scheduling and organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assist patients with changing to exam gowns, and transfer to exam table if neededAssess patient's general condition and collect patient historyTake appropriate vital signsDocument health history, activities, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical recordProvide basic patient care as ordered by physician and assist physician with various proceduresProvides patient education materials, communicates physician advice/instructions to patientCast and splint application and removalFit patients with braces, boots, other DME as ordered by physicianWound dressing changesPrepare injectionsSuture and staple removalSterile tray set-upsObtain lab/x-ray reportsSchedule surgery, hospital procedures and pre- and post-op appointmentsSchedule MRI, CT scans, labs, etc.Schedule referrals to other physiciansAssist with prior authorizationsPerform ECG studiesClean and stock exam roomsAdheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policiesCompliance with HIPAA, OSHA and Red Flag RulesAble to provide coverage to other AOC offices.Other Duties as assigned. RequirementsEducation: High school diploma or GED certificate.Experience: NAOther Requirements:LPN, CMA, CST preferred or equivalent experience - prefer current state license or national certificationGood communication skillsMaintain current CPR certification Qualifications:Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physiciansAbility to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, hospitals, other physician offices, and general publicAbility to make decisions and solve problemsWork effectively as team member with physicians and other staffAppropriately interact with patients, families, and othersAbility to flexibly respond to changing demandsMust have a flexible work schedule with the ability to work late some days and work through the lunch break on busy clinic daysPhysical/Mental Requirements:Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reachingMust be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to life up to 30 poundsOccasional stress from workloadMust be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, copy machine, writing instruments, pc, fax and medical equipment including stethoscope, ECG, blood pressure cuff, and cast saw equipment.
