Job Title: Medical Assistant Location: NYC, NY 10016Hours Per Week: 37.5Hours Per Day: 7.5Days Per Week: 5Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PMJob Duties:
- Perform basic and routine diagnostic laboratory procedures within certified school laboratories.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to isolate and identify microbial pathogens from clinical specimens.
- Prepare specimens and operate automated analyzers; may also perform manual tests as per detailed instructions.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of laboratory techniques, principles, instrumentation, and physiological conditions affecting test results.
- Familiarize and assist with various testing procedures within the laboratory.
- Participate in special projects, evaluate new products and instrumentation, and conduct quality control procedures.
- Assist with patient care, which includes checking schedules, organizing patient flow, escorting patients to exam rooms, and helping with walking, transferring, and dressing as needed.
- Prepare patients for exams, assist physicians with procedures, take vital signs, and relay instructions to patients and families.
- Answer phone calls and provide relevant information as needed.
- Handle clerical duties such as managing patient records, obtaining lab and referral information, completing forms, and ensuring proper charting.
- Use the EMR system to enter orders, manage prescription refill requests, and maintain records.
- Inventory, order, or restock medical supplies as needed.
- Set up exam rooms and instruments according to proper sterilization and infection control procedures.
- Perform proficient phlebotomy duties as required.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience:
- Preferred: Certification as a Medical Assistant or two (2) years of relevant work experience.
- Excellent phone manners, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in computer data entry.
- Ability to manage diversified responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Certified Medical Assistant or completion of a Medical Assistant program from an approved school with two years of experience.
Certifications & Licenses:
- BLS Certification
- Certified Medical Assistant (preferred)
- Proficient in Phlebotomy
- Infection Control Knowledge
