Career Opportunities with Community Health Centers of the Central CoastA great place to work.Reports To: Health Center Manager/Clinic Services SupervisorFLSA Status: Non-ExemptWage Range that the Company Expects to Pay:Medical Assistant I: $22.50 - $24.81 per hourMedical Assistant II (Certified or Registered): $24.00 - $26.46 per hourMedical Assistant for San Luis Obispo or Cambria: $25.00 - $27.56 per hourSUMMARYUnder the direct supervision of the Health Center Manager (HCM) and Clinic Services Supervisor (CSS), the Medical Assistant (MA) works as part of a team to ensure efficient and quality care to patients. The MA performs nonprofessional clinical duties, maintains and operates medical and laboratory equipment, assists in the treatment and care of patients, and performs related work as required, post training.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Actively participates in assigned Patient Care Team duties and activities.The majority of the MA's time shall be spent with direct patient care, performing duties as listed on Standard Work for each process.Administers medications via oral, parenteral routes, and topical routes as per Provider's written orders.Performs preliminary intake of vitals and determines need for immunizations, lead screening, preventative exams, and other health maintenance recommendations.Performs in-house CLIA Waived laboratory tests and ensures quality controls have been performed each day.Greets patients using two patient identifiers and assists in monitoring patient waiting areas.Maintains clean and safe patient areas and follows safety procedures.Ensures appropriate documentation in electronic medical record.Attends meetings and trainings as required by supervisor.Demonstrates adherence to all safety policies and procedures.QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GED required. Graduation from an accredited school in Medical Assisting. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) preferred. Minimum one year of recent medical assisting work experience in medical field preferred.OTHER REQUIREMENTSRequired to pass a criminal history background check upon hire. Annual health examination and proof of immunity to certain diseases required.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe employee is regularly required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds of supplies.WORK ENVIRONMENTAbility to work in a fast-paced environment.
