Job Title: Medical Director—Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Facilities (Maine)

Position Overview: We seek an experienced and dedicated Medical Director to oversee multiple post-acute and long-term care facilities across Maine. This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated physician to influence healthcare delivery at a systems level while maintaining hands-on clinical care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical oversight and direction across multiple facilities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), nursing staff, and administrative leadership.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct bedside visits for acute and regulatory needs.
  • Support facility-specific clinical programs, including dementia care, chronic disease management, wound care, and proactive care initiatives.
  • Mentor and supervise APPs to ensure exceptional care delivery.
  • Participate in facility meetings, including Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO with an active medical license in Maine (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • Experience as a Medical Director or a strong interest in advancing into a leadership role.
  • Board certification in internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, or experience in geriatric or post-acute care is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and familiarity with telemedicine tools.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $215,000–$250,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Flexible work schedule with opportunities for telemedicine coverage.
  • 4-day work week.
  • No call, no weekend coverage.
  • Support for Certified Medical Director (CMD) certification through PALTmed (Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine). CME training and costs will be covered.
