Salary & Benefits: Our client offers a competitive $120k-$160k+ Base (negotiable/Flexible DOE) Comprehensive Benefits Package Matching 401k, 3 weeks PTO, relocation package assistance if needed, room for growth/longevity, etc.About The CompanyOur client is an award-winning private practice with 40+ years of experience dedicated to caring for people with cancer and blood disorders.Job SummaryOur client is looking to add a permanent full-time Dosimetrist to their growing team in East Syracuse, NY.The successful candidate will join a strong and highly collaborative team of 3 Physicists, 1 Physics Associate and 2 Dosimetrists.Job Responsibilities: Generates external beam treatment plans (VMAT, IMRT, 3D, SBRT) using both photons and electrons to deliver a prescribed radiation dose. Reports directly to the Chief Physicist Knowledge of anatomy and radiation dose limits to normal structures. Ability to fuse multiple image modality data sets for better tumor and normal tissue delineation. Perform calculations to deliver prescribed dose, document pertinent information in the medical record, and verify accuracy of calculations using an independent computer system or via a “hand calculation.” Direct weekly chart rounds Assist in simulation when necessary. Fabricates or help fabricates custom immobilization and shielding devices. Assist therapists in the implementation of treatment plans. Provides guidance and supervision to Radiation Therapy students. Creates diode expectation value worksheets. Place and calibrate TLD's as required. Performs QA of treatment planning system. Ability to effectively use the electronic Medical Record (EMR). Adds charges for services provided and audits patient charges when necessary. Ability to direct medical images to proper locations using an image router. Ability in preparing patients to be contoured in the Cyberknife system. Including importing images into the Cyberknife Integrative Data Management System (iDMS), image fusion, and ability to open, close, and save plans. Complies with OSHA regulations relating to hazardous materials and blood borne pathogens Participates in training employees and student technologists in applied dosimetry, equipment operation, and quality assurance. Participates in clinical research protocols as needed. Attends required meetings and participated in committees as requested. Enhances professional growth and keeps abreast of new technologies through education programs, conferences, and workshops. Maintains patient confidentiality. Maintains proficiency in the proper use and safety of treatment planning systems. Performs related work and learns new technology as required.Qualifications: Ability to effectively communicate with clinical and non-clinical members of HOA. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public. Must be able to reflect a daily schedule that is needed to adequately give support and patient care. May work alone or with other members of the Radiation Therapy Department. Must be able to understand the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive computerized treatment plans and communicate these aspects to the Radiation Oncologist for plan approval, and to the Radiation Therapist for plan implementation. Performs routine duties independent of supervision but consults with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist as required. Operates and performs quality assurance on the treatment planning computer. Has working knowledge of radiation safety and current rules and regulations of the State of New York and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Has the ability to interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols. Must possess mathematical skills including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and introductory calculus and be able to visualize objects in three-dimensional concepts to facilitate the treatment planning process. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area for therapy. Knowledge of therapy equipment and testing. Knowledge of safety hazards common to therapy including equipment, body mechanics and patient movement. Skill in training student technologists and co-workers in equipment operation and procedures. Skill in trouble shooting equipment operation and performing simple adjustments. Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices. Ability to identify problems.
