Medical Physicist
Location: Dayton and Middletown, Ohio
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Medical Physicist to join our Radiation Oncology team. This role ensures optimal, safe, and effective patient care in the areas of diagnosis and radiation treatment. With six ASTRO APEx-accredited Radiation Oncology Centers and an MD Anderson credentialed cancer program, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a world-class care environment.
Schedule
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- No weekends, evenings, or holidays, offering a great work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform dosimetry evaluations for various radiation types (e.g., high-energy X-rays, electrons) and radiation-producing equipment.
- Conduct final reviews of treatment plans and oversee treatment planning systems.
- Provide technical direction and support for radiation therapy.
- Compute and verify tumor doses, establish and monitor basic dosage protocols.
- Perform linear accelerator beam analysis, periodic calibration, and maintenance.
- Evaluate diagnostic and treatment modalities to maximize patient outcomes.
- Participate in treatment planning, patient monitoring, and ensuring delivery accuracy.
- Conduct patient-specific quality assurance (QA).
- Lead technology assessments, planning, and procurement of major equipment.
- Perform acceptance testing and commissioning for equipment, software, and systems.
- Follow healthcare privacy and safety regulations, adhering to organizational core values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- Master's degree in Physics, Medical Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or Biophysics (doctorate preferred).
- Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics or equivalent by:
- American Board of Radiology (ABR).
- American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP).
- Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM).
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience in a major radiation center.
- Proficiency in advanced medical physics techniques and technology.
