The primary responsibility of the Medical Records Administrative Specialist is to assist with all clerical and support duties required to maintain a health information department that meets licensure, certification and accreditation standards. The position will respond to requests for information from client records within the confidentiality guidelines; enter patient information in the HEARTS System; and provide efficient retrieval of records for quality review or for any authorized purpose. Other responsibilities include:* Preparing closed charts for filing. Review for all required documents and signatures. * Accurate and timely filing of documents in open and closed charts and ensuring all forms are in proper order within the medical records. * Review of documents filed to assure accuracy. Auditing will focus on the identification of missing items or deficiencies; appropriate labeling on each document; and provide feedback to responsible staff when errors and/or problems are identified.* Accurately release confidential information to outside requests seeking information of current or former clients. This position will work 8-hour days, Monday to Friday.This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. About the facility: JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses.
