**Responsibilities:**

Exercising thorough knowledge of department coding policies and procedures, oversees office operations, assists in administering personnel related duties and acts as the liaison with hospital staff. Coordinates the daily work of subordinate staff and resolves coding problems.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

The Medical Records Coder IV establishes, monitors, and coordinates the identification, investigation, and resolution of provider DRG denials and grievances following state and federal regulations and guidelines for SMH and affiliates. Additional responsibilities also include but, are not limited to, managing all coding adjustments for claim resubmission, and, acting as a point of contact for coding inquiries, education, and DRG denial trends between HIM, UM, PFS, and Compliance departments. Of note, this is a fully remote position.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Bachelors in Health Information Administration preferred with three years coding in an acute care facility in a training/detailed project role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful completion of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) accreditation examination for Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or (Registered Health Information Technician) RHIT or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred.
