Medical Records Technician - Bowhead : Job Details

MEDICAL RECORDS TECHNICIAN (BAMC-2024-21240):

Bowhead seeks Medical Records Technicians to support various departments at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, TX. The Medical Records Technicians will be tasked with maintaining medical records of hospital and clinic patients within a medical center at Fort Sam Houston, TX.

Essential functions will include:

• Maintaining and reviewing medical records for completeness and accuracy, coding and indexing diseases, operations, diagnoses, and treatments.
• Following HIPAA regulations will work with patients, representatives and third parties to verify and release medical records as required.
• Performing routine operation of medical record department files and records maintaining the flow of records as medical staff requires.
• Ensuring all work is completed accurately and on schedule as per contractual and hospital regulations.
• Ensuring work and quality controls are completed within budget and implementing any cost saving measures.
• Perform other duties as assigned dependent upon the department assigned.

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required at a minimum in addition to experience in a medical records office.
• Administrative experience in a government and hospital setting highly desired.
• Intermediate level computer/PC knowledge required including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven office environment where privacy and confidentiality is critical while working alone and in teams to ensure mission success.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and provide proof of TDAP and Influenza vaccinations prior to employment and update as required.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security clearance requirements however qualified candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check and be able to gain access to the facility. Bowhead retains the right to change these requirements due to contractual requirements. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is a requirement for this location.
