    • Provide coverage at the check-out window
      • Provide walk-out statements
      • Collect payment as needed
    • Answer incoming calls from the appointment line and route callers to the appropriate place and/or schedule appointments for Health Department clinical services
      • Assist with rescheduling Family Planning and Child Health no-shows
      • Assist with appointment reminder calls
      • Obtain demographic and insurance information to schedule appropriate clinical appointments
    • Explain and interpret established policies and procedures to respond to inquiries from and to provide information to clients.
    • Serve as the ambassador of customer service for the Onslow County Health Department
    • Serve as a floater for Medical Records and other Clinical Support functions during staffing shortages or periods of high demand.
      • Assist with referrals and follow-ups with outside facilities
      • Assist with processing and fulfilling in-person medical records requests
      • Assist with prepping Child Health paperwork
    • Use a variety of automated office systems to establish, retrieve, verify, research, update, and/or authorize processing actions.
    • Perform assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteers. Performs related duties as required.
QualificationsModerate knowledge of HIPAA and basic knowledge of medical records management. Significant knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices. Significant knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and office terminology to compose and/or proofread correspondence, reports, and other materials. Significant knowledge of accounting procedures, mathematics, and their application in the work environment. Ability to learn and independently apply laws and departmental rules and regulations covering programs and services. Ability to review and process information to determine conclusions, actions, or compliance with applicable laws, rules, or regulations. Ability to apply a variety of work-related formulas or mathematical calculations. Ability to record, compile, summarize, and perform basic analysis of data. Ability to independently work with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact duties that may be sensitive in nature. Ability to type at least 45 corrected wpm. Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office products (specifically Word and Excel).
