Job Description :
Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Unit Leader recruits, trains, and equips volunteers to serve in the Wildcat Region Medical Reserve Corps. The MRC Unit Leader will develop a corps of capable volunteers who are ready and able to be called to respond to emergencies in the Wildcat Region.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Recruit, Develop and maintain a corps of trained volunteers in the Wildcat Region.
  • Train volunteers in essential skills such as First Aid, CPR, triage, and other emergency response needs.
  • Develop, secure, and maintain the supplies and equipment needed to respond to emergencies.
  • Coordinate with potential partner organizations to source volunteers.
  • Coordinate with First Responder agencies (emergency management, EMS, police, fire, etc.) to find opportunities to support strategic and tactical response plans.
  • Communicate and coordinate skills and abilities of volunteers to support emergency response agencies.
  • Respond to, and coordinate volunteer response, to emergencies in the Wildcat Region.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
  • Work with the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to conduct an initial needs assessment to determine if an MRC response is required.
  • Support Emergency Operations Center and required work centers through volunteer staffing and equipment and supply needs.
  • Support medical response activities through the duration of the emergency
  • Maintain equipment and supplies post-emergency.
  • Coordinate volunteer appreciation recognition.
  • Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsExperience: 1 year volunteer work, preferably at a supervisory level required; 1 year of logistics planning, acquisition, storage, and deployment experience required; 1 year of working command and control functions in emergency circumstances preferred; 1 year of education and training experience preferred. Skills: Ability to respond quickly to emergency requirements. Ability to organize complex work functions in a rapidly changing and uncertain environment. Ability to organize and maintain volunteer status lists and logistics control. Ability to provide education, training, and teambuilding concepts to enthusiastic volunteers. Must be fluent in English, and able to communicate using modern technology, as well as maintain databases on standard office equipment. Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.Must pass routine background check and conform to HIPAA standards of privacy protection.
