Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of the Mental Health Clinician II position isto provide clinical intakes, individual and group psychotherapy, assertive outreach, and clinical case management services, using evidence-based practices that are effective for the service population. Incumbent will also provide crisis intervention and emotional support to patients in the University Hospital Emergency Department and medical inpatient units as assigned.
Qualifications:Possession of a Masters Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Related Field from a professional school accredited by New Jersey state laws governing the discipline or Licensed Psychologist. Two (2) years of post-graduate experience in an outpatient mental health clinical setting required. Must be Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Doctorate or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA accredited program by the State of New Jersey. Dual License Clinical and LCADC preferred. Experience working with trauma survivors from underserved populations. Must possess excellent documentation and clinical skills, ability to set priorities, work independently, excellent follow-up, work well under pressure and deadlines. Experience doing case management, community outreach. Must be able to move between different treatment approaches (clinical case management and evidence-based, trauma-focused psychotherapy) depending on the needs of the patient. Demonstratecultural humility and a strengths-based, recovery philosophy. Excellent organizational and strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability. Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence-based treatments for medical and mental health conditions. Ability to work through brief patient contacts as well as to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions. Should be comfortable with working on an interdisciplinary team and having strong communication skills. Good knowledge of psychopharmacology. Ability to design and implement clinical pathways and protocols for treatment of selected conditions. Computer literate with competence in Microsoft Office, Epic, and Excel. Excellent communication skills required. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
Credentials required: LSW/LCSW, Psy D, LAC/LPC, and/or LCADC.
