A well-established community based social services organization is currently seeking Mental Health Counselors for their scatter site located in Brooklyn. You would be tasked with providing mental health-related services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS and having mental health needs and their families. The base pay range for this position is $60k to $65k per year. The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of the offer.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mental health assessments and assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive service plans that identify mutually agreed upon long and short-term mental health related goals.
  • Provide mental health services and referrals; assistance with adherence to medication regiments; activities for daily living; nutritional services; recreation programs; assistance in employment assessments, training; prevention with positives; and other necessary services to clients to increase their capacity for independent living. Also, monitor and ensure that clients are linked to needed services.
  • Provide supportive counseling to clients and coordinates and collaborates with mental health providers to help clients to comply with treatment and medication regime.
  • Make home visits and maintains face to face contact as specified in the service plan(s).
  • Responsible to develop and implement weekly groups including the Wellness
  • Self-Management model.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of all required documentation including, comprehensive assessments, reassessments, progress notes of all contacts with clients and/or collaterals.
  • Participate in case conferences, training, workshops and seminars as well as meetings with peers and supervisors as required.
  • Assist in the planning, organizing program recreational activities.
  • Participates in weekly supervision.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree, in Mental Health Counseling or Psychology, Social Work or related health field.
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
  • 1-3 years experience in mental health field working with people with HIV/AIDS preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
