How you make a difference:

The Mental Health Director (unlicensed) provides leadership and administrative direction to mental health services staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, supervise, and manage clinical services provided by mental health staff, ensuring duties align with staff qualifications and reporting performance issues to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with facility, health care, and professional standards, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to regulations from bodies such as the American Psychological Association and NCCHC.
  • Allocate staff resources to meet institutional clinical needs, provide direct clinical services as needed, and develop on-call mental health consultation systems for crisis intervention.
  • Supervise staff, provide disciplinary counseling, performance evaluations, and in-service training, while maintaining accurate documentation and overseeing clerical staff to ensure proper patient records management.
  • Collaborate with the H.S.A. on staff recruitment, resource allocation, psychiatric service coordination, and policy development, ensuring institutional and professional standards are met.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelors degree in psychology, social work or behavioral science field.
  • Masters degree in psychology, social work or related fields preferred.

Experience

  • One to two years of experience in the coordination and administration of mental health service delivery systems preferred.
  • Correctional healthcare experience strongly preferred.
  • Coursework and professional experience that indicates knowledge of management/supervision techniques, mental health counseling, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of major mental disorders and/or psychological evaluation techniques.

Licenses/Certifications

  • License-eligible to practice psychology, social worker, or related field in the state of employment preferred
