(Salary is inclusive of stipend)Job duties:Under the direction of the Licensed Clinical Social Services Program Manager, in partnership with the Director of Clinical Services, and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the MHW IV/Substance Use Counselor will provide direct services including, but not limited to: individual and group counseling related to alcohol and/or opioid use, substance use assessments and intakes, collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment teams in order to discuss and implement recommended treatment. Work is performed under limited supervision, but with clinical oversight.This is a Monday through Friday position, located at Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center.Representative Duties Include But Are Not Limited To: (A position may not be assigned all the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all the duties that may be assigned):•Provides direct patient evaluation, individual, and group treatment related to alcohol and/or opioid use.•Plans for patient evaluation and treatment.•Attends multidisciplinary reports and documents provision of treatment.•Collects and confers with community service agencies to assist with finding resources for patients at time of discharge.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: •A bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, or related field -OR- four (4) years progressively responsible experience in an institution or community based mental health/developmental disabilities program.•The ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment is critical.•Time management skills.•Preference given to Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) with experience in a hospital setting or working with individuals with serious and persistent mental illness/co-occurring disorders.Agency information:Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC) is a 69-bed psychiatric hospital serving the entire State of Maine that provides services for people with severe mental illness.
