Job Overview

The Merchandise Assistant - Backstage provides administrative support to the buying team to drive sales, turn, and margin results. Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do

* Take full ownership of all data entry responsibilities related to purchase orders, style information, vendor communication and sales reporting.

* Maintain awareness of the market through competitive shopping and develop knowledge and understanding of pricing and trends.

* Maintain a Comparable value file.

* Maintain a vendor contact list.

* Take ownership of maintaining department records and develop a user-friendly filing system for all paper and electronic documents.

* Manage incoming and outgoing communications.

* Professionally answer, screen and direct incoming communications and emails.

* Obtain samples delivered to the building and deliver them to internal destinations.

* Assist with the development of trend boards to support the merchandising vision.

* Monitor and resolve issues involving UPCs, orders, and shipments with MerchOps and the distribution center teams.

* Develop self through ongoing professional development and training.

* Provide general administrative support to the buying team.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills You Will Need

Organizational Skills: Take ownership of maintaining department records and develop a user-friendly filing system for all paper and electronic documents.

Problem-Solving: Monitor and resolve issues involving UPCs, orders, and shipments with MIO and the distribution center teams.

Self-Development: Commit to ongoing professional development and training to continually improve skills and knowledge.

Effective Communication: Practice open and continuous communication, valuing keeping others informed, and effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner.

Interpersonal Skills: Exhibit excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at various organizational levels.

Creative and Strategic Thinking: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically.

Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office is required.

Passion and Curiosity: Show a passion and curiosity about the business and our customer.

Eagerness to Learn: Demonstrate eagerness to learn and take ownership of the business.

* Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. Buying office experience preferred.
