Position Summary: As a Metal Fabrication Specialist, you will utilize technical drawings to execute layout, marking, cutting, welding, and finishing for stainless-steel components. Your work will involve creating tanks, frames, ducting, and other structural shapes in various sizes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately mark, cut, fit, clamp, and tack weld parts to ensure they align properly according to technical drawings.
  • Weld according to specifications using various processes on differing joint configurations while managing different material thicknesses.
  • Assemble components into complete products, resulting in high-quality weldments.
  • Safely operate various hoisting and rigging equipment to facilitate the movement of materials.
  • Utilize MIG, TIG, and GMAW machines, alongside plasma cutting torches.
  • Work predominantly with stainless steel components; be prepared to handle large, heavy, and awkward materials.
  • Interpret fabrication drawings and perform layout, cutting, and welding tasks based on written instructions and weld symbols.
  • Ensure proper fusion for high-quality and consistent welds while avoiding distress such as spatter, burn through, crystallization, or distortion.
  • Read and interpret bills of materials and specifications to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Polish, grind, and clean metal surfaces and welds as necessary.
  • Utilize hand trucks, pallets, and hoists effectively for material movement.
  • Identify defective materials and unusual conditions, reporting them to supervisors.
  • Adhere to safety policies and practices, working consistently in a safe manner.
  • Engage actively in company-wide continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Complete assigned tasks and additional duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Classroom training in welding or relevant experience is necessary; a degree or certificate from a technical welding school is preferred.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills are essential.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
