What you'll be working on:

  • Accurate reading and recording of meter consumption
  • Process disconnection of service for non-payments
  • Collection of overdue payments
  • Follow appropriate steps in turning on/off of gas service
  • Perform periodic Class I and II meter changes
  • Check and perform fuel line pressure tests, pipe Class I and II meter sets and tie-in customer fuel lines
  • Check customer equipment for code compliance, safe operation and installation
  • Knowledgeable and understanding of customer needs, concerns and expectations
  • Investigate leak complaints and make situation safe or take appropriate action to make situation safe
  • Properly use and maintain gas detection equipment
  • Ensures all orders are completed legibly, fully and accurately
  • Investigate high and low bill complaints

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personal contact notification during winter months
  • Install remote read devices on meters
  • Understand PSC policies on termination of service and theft of service
  • Recognize potential hazardous situations
  • Check for proper meter and regulator function
  • Knowledgeable of NFPA 54 code, state and local codes and regulations
  • Maintains company vehicle, tools and equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Who you are:

  • Basic principals of natural and propane gas and gas utilizing equipment
  • Use of assigned tools and instruments
  • Operator Qualified for position
  • Excellent customer contact skills
  • Conscientious work ethic
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Normal level of visual and hearing ability and sense of smell
  • Basic computer skills

Working Conditions:

  • Outside, customer premises and minimal office time
  • Working around potentially flammable substances
  • Able to lift 20 to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Adverse weather conditions and dogs
  • On-call rotation to cover 24 hour response for gas leaks
