Job Description & Skill Requirement:
This position is for an Aftermarket Engineer role to join a growing aerospace team.
This role will report to the local Team Leader of Engineering and will evaluate engine run aerospace hardware, ensuring its compliance with performance, reliability, and regulatory standards. This role involves detailed inspections, defect trending, root cause analysis, and serviceability assessments for components removed from in-service engines. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including MRO shops, quality engineering, and supply chain, to drive data-driven decisions on part reuse, repair, and replacement strategies.
Primary Responsibilities
Hardware Review & Evaluation
- Perform detailed inspections and assessments of engine run components, including rotating and static hardware, to determine serviceability.
- Analyze part wear, degradation patterns, and damage mechanisms such as oxidation, creep, fatigue, corrosion, and foreign object damage (FOD).
- Interpret and apply OEM technical manuals, service bulletins (SBs), airworthiness directives (ADs), and repair specifications to evaluate hardware conditions
Defect Trending & Root Cause Analysis
- Track failure trends and damage modes across incoming engine hardware to identify recurring issues affecting reliability
- Support root cause investigations (RCA) for premature failures, providing engineering disposition recommendations
- Work with fleet data, operational history, and maintenance logs to correlate engine performance with observed component wear
- Develop predictive analytics and statistical models to forecast part longevity and optimize repair cycles.
Documentation & Compliance
- Generate detailed engineering reports and disposition recommendations for repaired or replaced hardware
- Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, defect classifications, and trending analysis for continuous improvement
Secondary Responsibilities
- Execute/support other technical engineering tasks on customer projects
- Lead and/or participate in interviewing and hiring activities
- Support employee engagement activities and events
- Assist in onboarding of new hires
- Lead and/or support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to drive continuous improvement across the site
- Work with the delivery head to monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for site evaluation and success
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Metrology, or other relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience in the aerospace aftermarket environment, engine MRO, or component evaluation
- Proficiency with Microsoft products
- Strong knowledge of gas turbine engine components, material degradation, and part repair processes
- Hands-on experience with NDT techniques, borescope inspections, and metallurgical failure analysis
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., SAP, Teamcenter, CATIA, ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar PLM/CAE tools).
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles.
- Proficiency Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, service bulletins, and regulatory requirements
