A prestigious law firm is seeking a mid-level or senior associate to join its national management-side labor and employment practice, with a focus on cybersecurity, data privacy, and emerging technologies such as AI. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in advising clients on privacy and security obligations, handling data security incidents, and managing litigation matters within the technology sector. Location:
Duties:
- Advise clients on privacy and security obligations, including compliance with federal and state security laws.
- Handle data security incidents, including regulatory investigations and compliance matters.
- Manage all aspects of litigation, including interviewing witnesses, reviewing electronically stored documents, and drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Conduct and defend depositions.
- Interact with clients and opposing counsel, providing strategic legal advice and case management.
- Attend court appearances as necessary.
- Stay up-to-date on cybersecurity and data privacy laws, particularly within the technology sector.
- Provide counsel on AI-related privacy and security issues.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law.
- Experience advising clients on privacy and security obligations and handling data security incidents.
- Experience with regulatory investigations related to privacy and cybersecurity.
- Proven ability to handle all aspects of litigation, including witness interviews, document review, and drafting legal documents.
- Strong experience conducting and defending depositions.
- Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
- Ability to manage cases and interact with clients independently.
- Experience within the technology sector is highly preferred.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Admission to practice in the relevant state (New York or other applicable jurisdiction).
Skills:
- Strong expertise in privacy and cybersecurity laws.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state security laws.
- Experience advising clients on compliance with security obligations.
- Litigation experience, including drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage complex client matters.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI in the context of cybersecurity and privacy.
