Job Description :

The Swain Campus of Moravian Academy, serving children in Preschool through Grade 8 located in the Lehigh Valley seeks a full-time middle school mathematics teacher to teach sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade math courses. This role would focus on teaching four sections of middle school math. Ideally, the candidate has experience teaching coursework from PreAlgebra through Algebra 2. The school seeks candidates who are innovative, savvy with technology, have a firm grasp of teaching pedagogy, and embrace the unique developmental stages of middle school students.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach and manage all aspects of day-to-day classroom operations
  • Advise or co-advise a small group of middle school students
  • Design and implement innovative instructional methods to meet the needs of diverse learners' academic, social, and emotional growth
  • Conduct assessments and prepare reports of students' progress and performance
  • Attend divisional, full-faculty, and parent meetings as needed
  • Maintain a well-managed, mutually respectful, and welcoming classroom environment
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with fellow faculty members, staff, and administrators

  • Attend and participate in school events outside of regular school hours
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and support for Moravian Academy's mission and vision
  • Commit to fostering an inclusive classroom with diverse student backgrounds
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Experience & Skills

  • Passion for teaching and children
  • Experience teaching middle school-aged students and possess a strong understanding of adolescent development (5+ years of experience preferred)
  • Expertise in research-based best practices, current teaching methods, and effective pedagogy in mathematics education
  • Experience applying Responsive Classroom strategies preferred
  • Experience teaching higher secondary level mathematics a plus (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2)
  • Ability to build rapport with students, faculty, and families, and foster a collaborative, supportive learning environment
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics Education or a related field

Compensation and Benefits

Moravian Academy salaries are competitive and based on years of experience and expertise. Full-time employees are eligible to enroll in the Academy's benefit plans, which include an 8% retirement matching plan and the Group Medical and Prescription Healthcare Program. The Academy financially supports the continuing professional development of faculty and administrators. Tuition remission of 33% if available for the children of employees enrolled in the school. Need-based financial aid is available in addition to the remission if needed.
