Click on the links at the top of this page or go to: www.goodwillnwnc.org.JOB DESCRIPTION: The Crosby Scholars Middle School Outreach Specialist will assist in executing activities and initiatives that enhance the recruitment and retention of middle school students with a particular focus on underserved groups in Rowan County. The candidate should have a desire to learn about college access trends and cultural issues that affect college access. The candidate will dedicate the majority of time to outreach and retention efforts through presence in schools coordinating on-site programs and building relationships with students and staff. The candidate will also be active in the community building relationships with families. The remainder of the work time will contribute towards the implementation of events, activities, and program objectives. The Middle School Outreach Specialist will assist in the following duties: •Community outreach and education about Crosby Scholars and post-secondary educational opportunities •Recruiting and retention of middle school students with a particular focus on underserved student populations•Organizing and facilitating program activities for assigned public middle schools ensuring student participation in meetings, events, and requirements, such as Academies, College Tours, and Community Service, among others•Assisting with data management, reporting, communication, and other administrative tasks as assignedEDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in human services, counseling, or related equivalentEXPERIENCE: Experience and understanding of diverse student populations. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in speaking to groups. Demonstrated ability to help students set and achieve goals. Competent working autonomously and self-directed as well as working in teams. Ability to foster cooperative relationships in the schools and community. Computer skills appropriate to today's work environment. HOURS: Monday-Friday, some evenings and weekends required. Eoe m/f/vets/disability
